Philanthropy
Service to others is an integral part of being a Delta Zeta. Our national philanthropy is Speech and Hearing. We are proud supporters of the three international organizations below: Gallaudet University, The Painted Turtle Camp, and the Starkey Hearing Foundation. These wonderful organizations are dedicated to promoting awareness, providing education, and providing treatment for speech and hearing related issues.
To fundraise throughout the year, we host philanthropic events such as Hamburgers for Hearing, which is a cookout at our chapter house that the EIU community is invited to. We also host Turtle Bowl and invite all sororities and fraternities to register a team to come bowl with us at our local Charleston bowling alley. All of our proceeds go directly towards our charities.
Gallaudet University
Delta Zeta has been proud partners with Gallaudet University since 1954. It's located in Washington, D.C., and is the only university in the world that provides undergraduate programs for hearing-impaired students. The Painted Turtle
The Painted Turtle Camp, a member of Paul Newman's renowned Hole in the Wall Camps, is an innovative camp program for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. At camp, the children's medical needs are provided for and they are inspired to reach beyond their illnesses. They are given the opportunity to experience their childhood to the fullest. There is no billing department. All campers and families attend free of charge. Delta Zeta is honored to be the first sorority to have The Painted Turtle Camp be apart of their national philanthropic efforts. Starkey Hearing Foundation
The Starkey Hearing Foundation provides the gift of hearing to those who live in a silent world. With compassion and dedication they are able to provide hearing aids to people in need throughout the U.S. and around the world. Delta Zeta is honored to support this foundation that positively impacts the lives of thousands of people through our fundraising efforts.
